What Woke Me is designed with privacy in mind.
What Woke Me requires microphone access in order to monitor supported nighttime sounds during an active monitoring session. Microphone access is used only for the app's sound-monitoring functionality, and only while a monitoring session is running.
Sound analysis is performed entirely on the user's iPhone, using Apple's on-device sound classification frameworks and a bundled sound-detection model. The app does not upload nighttime audio to an external server for sound classification, and the app does not perform any network communication.
When the app stores a detected sound event or related clip, that data remains stored locally on the user's device and is associated only with the app on that device, unless the user removes the app or deletes the relevant data through supported app or device functionality. What Woke Me does not back up or sync detected sound clips to any cloud service.
What Woke Me does not require a user account or sign-in of any kind.
The app does not use analytics services, does not use crash-reporting SDKs, does not send telemetry, does not use advertising SDKs, and does not use any third-party tracking SDKs. The app performs no networking of any kind — it does not connect to the internet or to any server. The app does not use advertising or tracking identifiers (such as the IDFA). Internally, the app generates random identifiers to label sound-event and session records on the device (for example, to distinguish one detected sound from another); these identifiers stay on the device, are never transmitted anywhere, and are not used to track or identify users.
What Woke Me does not share any personal data, audio, or detected sound data with any third party, because the app does not transmit data anywhere. All processing and storage stay on the user's device.
Because all processing and storage happen locally on the user's iPhone, the app's security follows the security of the device itself. Users should protect access to their iPhone using standard iOS security features, such as a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID.
What Woke Me does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not collect personal information from any user, of any age, since it does not transmit or store data outside the user's own device.
This Privacy Policy may be updated as the app changes. The latest version will be published on this page.
